Angelica (Angelica archangelica) is a flowering plant used in cooking, and which also has some medical uses.

[edit] Herbalism

In herbalism, angelica root is used to ease digestive complaints, and is a carminative (that is, it helps to expel gas from the gut). It is believed to control bladder infection, as it has both diuretic (urine-promoting) and antibiotic properties. It was formerly given to soldiers to improve eyesight, and some herbalists still use it to treat eye problems.
