The Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) is a berry used in herbalism. They are used in the treatment of diarrhoea, as their astringent properties will help solidy the faeces without leading to constipation.

Bilberry is rich in Vitamin C, and was used to treat scurvy in Scandinavia, while its high iron content has led to its effective use against anaemia.

Dose: berries as needed, within normal eating limits. Also, fresh or dried fruits can be made into a tisane.
