Since the beginning of the century, most of the old varieties disappeared and this tendency deeply intensified since 1961 and of the creation of the system of “vegetable obtainings” (U.P.O.V) which allowed the multinationals petrochemistry to repurchase a good thousand of seed-bearer in the northern hemisphere in the space of about thirty years. For memory, ten multinationals currently controls nearly 40% of the world market of the seed whose the four principal ones are Bridge, Novartis, Limagrain and Monsanto. The eradication of the old varieties and their replacement by hybrid varieties FI generated a completely captive market, since, essentially, these Fl varieties are not reproducible in accordance with the type. The gardeners, the market-gardeners and the farmers must thus repurchase them every year. Today there are no more varieties in food. Vegetable the S, fruit S, grasses nonprofitable were quite simply withdrawn from circulation.
