The technique covers the whole of the processes of manufacture , maintenance, management, recycling and, even 'waste disposal, which uses methods resulting from scientific knowledge or simply from the methods dictated by the practice of some métiers.
The technique is often underestimated, but it is one of the large components of artisan and industrial know-how . It is the product of the whole of the history of humanity, each people and each time having brought its competences. Source

[edit] Practical
By this word, we understand accessible to all (the maximum we can); as well financially as intellectually.
- A minimum of financial power should be necessary to carry out the various techniques.
- To privilege the use of natural resources (renewable) or materials of second hand.
- Possibility of doing with few tools.
- When we write intellectually accessible, we mean that knowledge have to be popularized.
[edit] Copyright
We use double free licensing which is having no significant legal restriction relative to people's freedom to use, redistribute and modify the content.
[edit] So Ekopedia is a specialized encyclopaedia
When we write “practical encyclopedia dealing with the alternative techniques of life”, we thus wish to express the fact that we create a collection of knowledge having for topics:
- the techniques: regrouping the process of manufacture, maintenance, management, recycling and even waste disposal,
- giving the power of being autonomous. And beyond these topics, Ekopedia must be a place of popularization. So that a great number of people can learn, understand, and implement these techniques.
- Techniques of life which is the basic needs that we have.
- Differently in practicing theses alternatives respecting to the maximum Man, nature and environment.
[edit] Objectives
[edit] A collaborative environment
Before everything, Ekopedia project wants to be a whole collaborative workplace where each person who wishes it (and who can) will be able to get informations and to transmit her knowledge.
[edit] A place of practical knowledge
We wish that this place provide practical information making it possible to structure and support organization of another social lifestyle. Contrary to the usual encyclopedias, Ekopedia must give all the means in order to make it possible for individuals to practice alternatives. To the wire of time and the wire of the projections, other objectives could be added.
