Consuming local products is a key aspect of sustainability. Sustainable development implies 3 basic notions :

  • The environment : less transports (food miles), so less pollution ; less chemicals for the transportation of the products that are grown in the soil and not in greenhouses, so less energy.
  • Social relations : develop a tight link between producer and consumer.
  • Economy : develop the local economy and the local markets where producers can sell their seasonal products.
