A hybrid vehicle uses two (or more) types of energy to move.
Hybrid vehicles are an intermediary solution between conventionnal vehicles and electric vehicles. The idea is making the thermic motor run with a slightly harder charge than necessary, and use this extra energy to charge batteries. Since a motor's efficiency increases quickly at low charge, this superfluous energy is almost free. This is true for "fuel motors", "gas oil motors'" efficiency changing much less with the charge.
