[edit] Production

The weaving is done with a weaving loom, by assembly of a thread network (called warp) and an other network, placed at square angle (called woof). These two networks create a framework : it's the cloth.

[edit] Usage

Textiles are used for clothes, for household (tablecloths, curtains...) and for technical applications (filtration, parachutes, composite materials, medicine...). The material can be:

  • natural (vegetal, organic...)
  • mineral (think about the old coat of mail)
  • synthetic (polyamid, polyacrylic...)

[edit] Vegetal fibers

  • Linen
  • Coir (the fibers around coconuts)
  • Cotton
  • Bamboo
  • Hemp
  • Jute
  • Sisal
  • Raffia
  • Broom
  • Ramie
  • Nettle
