The Age of Stupid is a Britannic film. It is a mix between drama, animation and documentary. The main character is Pete Postlethwaite, playing a lonely man in a devastated world in 2055.

In the 'Age of Stupid, Pete Postlethwaite watch television's archives from 2008 and try to answer the question; "Why did not we save ourselves when it was possible?"

The first screening was at Leicester Square (London), the 15th March 2009. It happened under tent running with solar energy.[1][2]. Among 16000 people, the Minister of Energy and Climate Change, Ed Miliband was present.

The world release of the film will happen the 21st and 22nd of September 2009. At New York, a green carpet will be set up and lead to a solar powered tent. The place will be connected by satellite with 442 cinémas around the states of North Amercica and 200 others around 45 other countries. Among the guests there will be Kofi Annan, Pete Postlethwaite and Gillian Anderson. Thom Yorke from Radiohead gave a free musical show live.

Filmed in 7 countries during about 3 years, the movie include 6 distinct documentarie, archive's pictures and lots of animation from mainly the work of Passion Pictures (Creators of musical group Gorillaz).

The Age of Stupid was financed by 220 people (it is call crowdfunding) who paied between 500 £ and 35 000 £ (between 550 and 38 000 euros). Each of them will receive a part of the possible benefits (besides the 105 employes who worked for a survie salary).

The producers have evaluated the carbon footprint of the movie around 94 tonnes de CO2[3]. The music included partition from RadioHead, from Depeche Mode, from Dragnerve and from The Band of Holy Joy, and also an orchestra partition writtern by Chris Brierley.

Futhermore than being screened in many cinemas, the World Wildlife Fund and many other organisms have supported the movie by inviting their members and web's visitors to organise their own regional screening. That would cost them only 30 £ - the benefits (if it happen) could be keep by the organisers.[4].

This service called Indie screenings (http://www.indiescreenings.net/) was conceive by the creators of the film to allow a wide diffusion and easy acces for most of us. At the moment Indie screenings work in United Kingdom of England, Irland, Australia and New Zealand), but mais à partir d'octobre 2009, il sera disponible dans le monde entier[5].

The Age of Stupid was financed by ordinary people all around the world. 228 persons and groups (with a Hockey team and health center for women) have invest between 2004 and 2006 around 450 000 £ (500 000 euros) thank to this technic of "Crowd-funding" [6]. Between 2008 and 2009, 25 others have invest 150 000 £ (165 000 euros) for the distribution and advertising of the movie in the UK. Finally 384 others have given (not invested) 180294 £ for the campaign "Not Stupid".

There are at the moment collecting a final 180 000 £ for the global premiere the 21st and 22nd September.

The movie's creators have also produced a file describing how to finance your own movie thanks to Crowd-funding[7].

The movie was quite well received by critics. According to The Guardian (British daily newspaper), it is "the first successful damatisation of climatic changes that reach the cinema".
